Consular Services

Attestation of a document other than the power of attorney:

To get a document notarized, you should send a notarized copy with the original, your National Identity Card (NICOP), or photocopy of Pakistani passport. Please see fee structure

Attestation of Educational Documents

It may please be noted that Higher Education Commission in Islamabad is responsible for the attestation of educational degrees/transcripts by the chartered universities of Pakistan. The details of attestation/equivalence procedure are available at HEC website www.hec.gov.pk/

Attestation of a Power of Attorney

To get a Power of Attorney notarized, you should send a notarized copy with the original, your National Identity Card or Pakistani passport and money order. Please also send one extra copy of the Power of attorney for our record

Please also contact your relevant consulate for shipping and handling details. Remember, if you are a US citizen, all documents that have to be attested have to be first notarized by the US Department of State. The documents such as birth and death certificates, Marriage, divorce certificates which are issued from Pakistan must have been first attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan. Similarly all education certificates and degrees issued from Pakistan will only be attested by the Embassy and Pakistani consulates if they are attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.

Birth Certificate

Birth Certificate are issued by the Local Government authorities in Pakistan. Such certificates must be duly attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad or its camp offices in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar. The Embassy and its Consulate offices in the US counter authenticate the above documents.

Attestation of Driving License

In case of driving license, Embassy would attest the letter, issued by the driving license issuing authority, conforming the particulars of the holder of driving license. The letter should first be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad.

 

Express Mail

Note (i) Express Mail : If application is submitted through mail, self addressed pre-paid envelope is mandatory for the return of documents. The Embassy recommends the use of Express Mail for all deliveries. Please use the flat rate envelop. Current cost is : $18.30. Do not use Metered stamps. The Embassy does not accept any other form of return envelope. Click here for US Postal Services. Embassy will not be responsible for loss of documents in the mail.

Note (ii) : All fees are payable in US postal money orders or cashier cheques made payable to the Embassy of Pakistan. Please do not send cash or personal cheques. Please make sure to include your name and address on money orders or cashier cheques. All fees are non- refundable.
