Internship Program - 2017

 

The Embassy of Pakistan, Washington, D.C. offers internship positions for undergraduate and graduate students in the United States colleges and universities. Students chosen for the program are required to participate as an intern for 10 weeks on a full time basis. The positions within the program are voluntary without salaries or benefits. The internship program gives students valuable work experience in a challenging foreign affairs arena.

The interns work within the following areas of expertise:

Economic and political affairs: The work is multifaceted and focuses on monitoring economic and political development in the United States and Pakistan with special focus on Pak-US relations. The interns participate in a number of different tasks which span from research and preparation of reports to participation in meetings and attending various events including Think Tanks and the Hill.

Communication, cultural and press affairs:

The interns participate in the daily work within the areas of communication, press and cultural affairs. As a part of the Embassy's public diplomacy activities, the interns assist in organizing the Embassy's outreach activities and participate in implementing the overall communication strategy. In addition, they organize and coordinate Pakistani cultural events in the U.S.

· Community outreach : The interns also participate in community outreach efforts of the Embassy.

Eligibility :

The program is open to motivated and dynamic undergraduate and graduate students at the U.S. colleges and universities. Please note that we do not accept applications from outside the United States.

The internship typically seeks candidates with the following qualification:

· Good communication skills

· Leadership ability

· Ability to work independently and as a team player

· Serious interest in pursuing a career in US Government and politics or other related fields

Internship positions are best suited for applicants with interest in the following fields:

· Pak-US relations

· Political history of Pakistan

· South Asian politics

· Journalism

· International affairs

· Economics

· International economic and trade law

· Human rights

Application requirements:

· Application Form (download) duly filled in.

· A write-up on current international affairs issue (up to 500 words)

· Resume

· Latest academic record

· Two letters of recommendation

· A current Photograph

 

Internship program will commence from June 15, 2017 and will end on August 14, 2017

Note: Last date for the submission of application is June 10, 2017
