Flag Hoisting Ceremony on the 65th Independence Day
The Embassy of Pakistan, Washington D.C. celebrated Pakistan's 65th Independence Day with traditional fervor and enthusiasm while remembering the arduous struggle and sacrifices, rendered by our founding fathers. A simple but impressive flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Chancery this morning. The ceremony began with recitation from the Holy Quran. Special prayers were offered for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan. Ambassador Husain Haqqani unfurled the national flag and read out the messages of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on the occasion. Officials of the Embassy, their families, members of the community and media participated in the ceremony.
