Presidents Zardari and Obama vow to sustain bilateral relationship
President Asif Ali Zardari and President Barack Obama have pledged to maintain Pakistan-US ties based on joint goals as well as broader contours of the relationship, Islamabad’s ambassador to the United States Sherry Rehman said. The envoy, briefing reporters hours after the two presidents meeting on the sidelines of expanded ISAF-NATO summit here Monday, said President Zardari told the American leader that Pakistan has a constructive role for peace and stability in Afghanistan. Pakistan, he said, will be happy to play a facilitating role in NATO and ISAF drawdown as the international community moves to transition in Afghanistan.
