Embassy of Pakistan hosted the participants of the 3rd Annual Youth Leadership Conference organized by the USPAK Foundation

The Embassy of Pakistan Washington DC hosted the participants of the 3rd Annual Youth Leadership Conference organized by the USPAK Foundation this evening. The event is regularly held by the Embassy in collaboration with the USPAK Foundation each year since 2010.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Asad M. Khan, Charge d’ Affaires, highlighted the potential of the Pakistani American diaspora, particularly the youth. In addition to traditional fields such as medicine and banking, he encouraged them to pursue careers in fields such as politics, media and research to project Pakistan’s true image in the United States.

To showcase real life examples of leadership by Pakistani youth, the Embassy aired a series of short video documentaries, produced by Black Box Productions, presenting the lives and achievements of four extraordinary Pakistani girls. These include Malala Yousufzai (National Peace Prize winner from Swat), Suhaila Muhammadi (karate champion from Balochistan), Arfa Karim Randhawa (youngest ever Microsoft Certified Professional) and Saima Saleem (first ever visually impaired officer to join the Foreign Service of Pakistan).

The evening was rounded up with highlights of musical performances by popular Pakistani Sufi music groups, Arieb Azhar and Noori band, both of whom recently performed at the Kennedy Center, Washington DC.

Mr. Irfan Malik, a prominent Pakistani American community member and office bearer of the USPAK Foundation, thanked the Embassy of Pakistan for its enduring commitment and support to the Youth Leadership Conference.

The event was part of the three-days’ long USPAK Foundation Youth Leadership Conference (July 9-11) attended by over 80 young Pakistani Americans, mostly high school and college students from several states across the U.S.
